Life Skills Day Program

Life Skills Day Program is a facility-based program of opportunities designed around individual and their interests with focus on social interactions, daily living skills, leisure activities, pre-vocational skills, recreational opportunities, and learning to build personal skills. Program activities are based on individual goals identified through person centered planning and LifeCourse framework. There are class opportunities in cooking, gardening, art, computers, theater, and special projects. In addition, our program provides many opportunities for community experiences such as going to parks, local farms, libraries, fairs, bowling, eating out, shopping, and whatever the communities’ opportunities and interests might present.

We have four service sites located in Southeastern Indiana: Brookville, Batesville, Connersville & Penntown. Feedback from our families & individuals guide the development of any new programs and opportunities. Private pay options are available for the Life Skills Day Program. Some families may want to balance school educational programs with summer day program experiences and opportunities. This decision can be discussed with your Service Coordinator as each individual who comes to New Horizons has a service coordinator to assist in planning for needed services through the Medicaid Waiver. New Horizons may provide transportation for the Life Skills Day Program.
